The '23 EP from Leslie "LES" Penning, a composer/recorder player who showcased his impressive tone on "OMMADAWN" (1975), one of Mike Oldfield's best-known albums, and "Cuckoo Song" (1977), a single not included on the album, and Rob Reed (keyboard), the leader of MAGENTA, a leading band in the current British melodic and symphonic rock scene. The project consists of composer/recorder player Leslie "LES" Penning, who showed off her impressive tone on the single "Cuckoo Song" not included on the '77 album, and Rob Reed (keyboard), the leader of MAGENTA, one of the leading bands in the current British melodic/symphonic rock scene. Starting with '18's "IN DULCI JUBILO", followed by "THE LAST BELLS OF WINTER" and "STOP THE CAVALRY", this year's EP for Christmas, which has become a regular occurrence in recent years, is also available." In addition to original songs such as "Dawn Dancing," "Returning," and "Evening Snow," the EP also features "The Lonely Goatherd" from the well-known musical classic "The Sound of Music," a song covered by Mike Oldfield, and "The Wedding of the Frog and the Mouse. The album also includes "Froggy," a traditional folk song about a wedding between a frog and a mouse, and a cover of the traditional number "All Things Bright," also by Mike Oldfield.The arrangement is neat and graceful, and the sound of Les Penning's ancient instruments such as the krummhorn/gemshorn takes us back to the Middle Ages at once, and its natural sound makes it a must-listen for fans of Mike Oldfield's early works! Christina (vo) of MAGENTA also participates as a guest on this album.
