François Couperin (1668-1733) was the most talented member of the Couperin family, a prestigious French musical family. He wrote numerous clavecinis, all of which are unique and have a light of their own. This collection of works for two harpsichords, like the first collection, adheres to his own words, in which he wrote that some of his works, usually played on a single harpsichord, "should be played on two harpsichords," and that they should be played on two violins, a viola da gamba, and a viola da gamba, The "Nations," originally performed on violin, viola da gamba, and bass clef, is given a new nuance by being performed on harpsichord alone.
