Love Heart Cheat Code is a snapshot of four extraordinary musicians dancing on the cutting edge of new possibilities for musical expression, and its 11 playful, lively songs are a shining example. However, for a band that has made a name for itself with complex song structures and has been critically acclaimed and nominated for multiple Grammy Awards for its pursuit of maximalism in music, one of the most striking things about "Love Heart Cheat Code" is its simplicity. 'I'm a maximalist,' Ney says. I complicate everything anyway," laughs Ney.But the more things you go through in life, the more relaxed and free you become. The album also features other Melbourne-based musicians such as Taylor Crawford, aka Chip, who plays a homemade instrument called the frero, guitarist Tom Martin, and flutist Nicodemus. And Mario Caldato JR, a renowned producer who has worked with the Beastie Boys, Bjork, Blur, Beck, and Seu Giorgi, mixed the album. (1/2)
