Formed in London in 1981 and debuting with the album *PLEASE* in 1986, the Pet Shop Boys—alchemists of pop—have consistently pushed the boundaries of their era while shaping the very “sound” of their time. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have sold over 50 million records, placed 22 songs in the UK Top 10 singles chart, and are recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most successful duo in the UK music industry. They have been nominated for three Brit Awards and six Grammy Awards, and have earned numerous Platinum and gold records, making them the most powerful active electro-pop duo shaping and leading the era at the heart of the music industry. In 2009, they received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution, and they were also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ivor Novello Awards—the music awards for songwriters and composers presented by the Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers in the UK—demonstrating the widespread acclaim for their work.
