George Szell's superb Schubert: Symphony No. 9 "Great" is being produced in limited quantities as a 180g analog LP edition with 24bit/192kHz remastered sound sources in 2019! George Szell's commitment to musical truth made him one of the most engaging 20th century conductors to bring out the work's inherent appeal without subjective emotional involvement. His uncompromising search for perfection elicited high quality performances from soloists and orchestra. In particular, his long tenure as Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra (1946-1970) elevated the ensemble to the status of one of the world's finest ensembles. The "Great" was one of Sell's last recordings with his hand-picked Cleveland Orchestra, and the last so-called "national" recording for the Hungarian-born conductor. In this 1970 recording, we hear more of the demanding music of yesteryear by Sell, who built the work up through a series of musical and rhythmic repetitions, and through the tempi and rigorous ensemble.This masterpiece will be produced in limited quantities as a 180g analog LP version from the original master tapes, using 24bit/192kHz remastered sound sources at Art & Son Studio in 2019! Due to the nature of imported products, there may be some minor scratches, folds, scuffs, dents, tears, stains, crushed corners, scratches on the disc surface that do not affect playback, stains, image differences, individual differences, etc. on the product (including jacket, outer vinyl, outer box, case, enclosure, etc.) at the time of arrival.
