Formed in the West Midlands in 1988 around bassist MARTIN BLUNT, the band was soon joined by vocalist TIM BURGESS, and debuted during the Manchester boom as the successor to STONE ROSES, HAPPY MONDAYS, and INSPIRAL CARPETS. After the end of the groove-driven, indie-dance Manche boom, the band went through many changes, such as adapting to the Brit Pop boom, and eventually became one of the UK's leading rock bands, the alternative rock band CHARLATANS.
