After six years of silence, Teenage Fanclub, the conscience of the Glasgow music scene, has released their 10th album, "Here," on their own label, Pema. The guitar-pop band, which is immensely popular here in Japan, has completed a masterpiece album of pop and warm Teenage Fanclub songs that will not betray the expectations of old and new fans. It has been 26 years since their debut album, and almost 30 years since their predecessor band, The Boy Hairdressers, with founding members Norman Blake, Raymond McGinley, and Frances McDonald, but the musicianship and one-of-a-kind songwriting that is transmitted from heart to heart has never changed. The songwriting has not changed at all. This album was produced in three studios with three songwriters, the band's soundman David Henderson, drummer Francis MacDonald, and keyboardist Dave McGowan. It was recorded at Vega Studios in rural Provence, France, at Raymond's home studio in Glasgow, and mixed at Cloud Hill in Hamburg.As before, the album features three songwriters, Norman, Gerald, and Raymond, who each wrote four songs on the album, taking advantage of the band's internal democracy. The album begins with the breezy, pop-oriented "I'm In Love," which is instantly recognizable as a Teenage Fanclub song, and continues with 12 superb guitar pop songs about life and love, including "With You," an ode to friendship without a doubt.
