The French composer Gabriel Dupont, who was afflicted with tuberculosis since his teens and died at the age of 36, wrote "A Sick Time" in his mid-20s in a sanatorium, a masterpiece of piano music that depicts the emotions of a person looking at the world from a sickbed. The Italian pianist Giuseppe Tacconia specializes in Romantic and late-Romantic repertoire, including works by Liszt and Rachmaninoff. Gabriel Edouard Xavier Dupont [1878-1914], who died young, spent much of his time recuperating in a sanatorium, leading a life away from the so-called central music world, which in some respects led to the establishment of Dupont's unique musical personality. In some ways, this led to the establishment of Dupont's own musical personality. Although Dupont's creative period was short, lasting only a little more than 10 years, the fact that some of his works are highly original seems to have been largely due to this environment. A Sick Time" was composed while du Pont was in a sanatorium from 1903 to 1905 for treatment of tuberculosis. It is a piano piece based on what was happening around him while he was in the recovery room. It begins with a relatively calm atmosphere of happy melancholy, gradually increasing in intensity, interspersed with moments of rest and solace, culminating in the thirteenth piece, "Sleepless Night - Hallucinations," and finally returning to silence. Whether it is hope or despair is up to the listener. The French composers who were roughly Dupont's contemporaries include Dukas [1865-1935], Satie [1866-1925], Keclan [1867-1950], Roussel [1869-1937], and Florent Schmidt [1870-1958], The words impressionism, symbolism, romanticism, and belle époque are also used as adjectives for Dupont's music.It is a joy to hear his piano, orchestral, and vocal music on CD. Taccogna conducted research on Dupont for the recording, and even wrote his own commentary in the booklet, so we can expect great results from this recording. ＜Born on May 20, 1991, Giuseppe Taccogna received his piano diploma from the Niccolò Piccinni Conservatory in Bari in 2011 under the direction of Gregorio Goffredo. He also attended specialized courses at the Conservatory of Pescara and participated in national and international competitions with piano sections. He won the first prize at the Di Stefano Competition, the Giordano Competition, the Tricarico Competition, and the second prize at the Ria Tortola International Competition, among others.
