In addition to the B minor sonata heard on the organ of the Dome Church in Utrecht, Liszt was also active in organ performance from his youth, and in addition to his original organ pieces, he also made a large number of arrangements of his own compositions and popular pieces of the time, which appealed to many people at church. This album contains organ arrangements of Liszt's piano pieces, with the B minor sonata as the main work, "Marriage," inspired by Mary's nuptials, "Consolation," which uses the Archduchess of Weimar's melody as a token of gratitude to her for showing understanding to his wayward love, and "Gondola of Sorrows," which he wrote in the midst of Wagner's anticipated death.
