Indian-born British composer Brian Elias Collection of worksBrian Elias is an Indian-born British composer. He studied composition under Elizabeth Litchens. The BBC Proms is a major classical music event held every summer in London, England. Electra's Lament" was recorded live at the 2012 BBC Proms. It was composed using the text of the tragedy "Electra" written by Sopocles, one of the three great tragic poets of ancient Greece. Mezzo-soprano Susan Bickley sings in the original ancient Greek, accompanied by a chorangue and string ensemble, telling the story of Electra and the revenge her brother Orestes took on his mother and in-laws following the murder of their father. The Crane is a dramatic and rhythmic ensemble piece inspired by the Crane Dance, a ritual associated with Theseus, one of the heroes of Greek mythology. Tobu Land System
