With super rock guitarist Edward Van Halen, Van Halen made a sensational debut in 1978 and quickly rose to the top of the American hard rock scene. The band overcame various problems, including a change of vocalist and the departure of original member Michael Anthony, but ceased operations in 2006, and resumed in 2011, releasing a new album, touring extensively, and showing that they are still going strong, but on October 6, 2020 Eddie Van Halen passed away suddenly on October 6, 2020, and the band ceased its activities. The band reached the pinnacle of American hard rock with the release of their 1984 album, which sold over 10 million copies, and all of their subsequent albums reached the top spot on the U.S. album charts. Balance, released in 1995, was equally successful, debuting at No. 1 on the U.S. album charts and earning the band a triple platinum disc.With the release of the album, the band embarked on a large-scale world tour "Balance Tour," including Japan. The concert in Irvine, California on October 15, the last day of the North American leg of the tour, was recorded and broadcast by PBS-TV in the US. This live album was released using the sound recordings from the broadcast and includes the complete concert including encores and solo performances. The mature performance by this lineup is not to mention the greatness of this album, but it is an extremely valuable record of the last live performance in which Sammy Hagar participated, as he left the band after this tour!
