Bach to Rautavaara: The Transition of Flute Sonatas The third CD album by Xavier Lack, a master flutist who has played principal flute in many world-famous orchestras and is also a teacher for younger students at Kobe College School of Music. Lack has chosen five "flute sonatas," from C.P.E. Bach's unaccompanied works to Rautavaara's duets with guitar, and has recorded them with his talented collaborators. A new masterpiece that will move your heart is born. The booklet includes an extensive commentary on the works written by Lack. Xavier Lack (flute) was born in Sydney, Australia and is a British citizen. After graduating from the University of Melbourne, he studied at the Royal College of Music in England and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He was a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and was a contracted flutist for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera for many years.He has been invited as guest principal conductor to many world-class orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, and others. He has given a wide range of concerts and recordings. In 2006, he recorded a CD as a member of the Thomas Christian Ensemble, which won the prestigious German Recording Industry's Best of the Best Award. He has participated in many music festivals including the Pacific Music Festival (PMF), Tyrol Music Festival, Salzburg Festival, etc. He was the first flutist of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in 2005, and later became the assistant principal flutist of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008. He served as the Assistant Principal Flute Player of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra for four years. His first album "Tafanel: Supreme Fantasist" was released by Camerata Tokyo in 2017, and "Elemental: The World of Spirits Explored by Flute" in 2020, which was selected as a special edition by "Record Geijutsu" magazine and received high acclaim.
