To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the film *It’s Tough Being a Man*, the original TV series *It’s Tough Being a Man* is finally being released on DVD for the first time. This is where Tora-san’s story began. The TV drama "It's Tough Being a Man" aired in 26 episodes starting in 1968. This release includes the complete first and final episodes, for which the master tapes miraculously survived. The remaining 24 episodes have been reconstructed using surviving photographs. Additionally, staff members who were there at the time reveal behind-the-scenes stories from the project's inception to its realization—including how Shibamata was chosen as the setting, the origins of the theme song, and the process of selecting the costumes—all before the film adaptation.
