Fuji Shizuoka Symphony Orchestra" was created in 2021 by the combination of Shizuoka Symphony Orchestra and Hamamatsu Philharmonic Orchestra. Fuji Shizuoka Symphony Orchestra" was born in 2021 from the merger of the Shizuoka Symphony Orchestra and the Hamamatsu Philharmonic Orchestra. This commemorative first CD includes two symphonies representative of Beethoven's middle period, conducted by Ken Takaseki, who will serve as chief conductor from 2021. Takaseki's conductorship is based on meticulous research, and the orchestra responds with sensitive and fast-paced performances. This is truly a performance that will make its name known throughout Japan. Mt. Fuji Philharmonic OrchestraIn November 2020, the Shizuoka Symphony Orchestra (founded in 1988) and the Hamamatsu Philharmonic Orchestra (founded in 1998), both NPOs, will combine to form the Mt. In June 2024, the orchestra was approved as a full member of the Japan Orchestra Federation in recognition of its past activities.The orchestra has been contributing to the promotion and improvement of local music culture as a representative orchestra of Shizuoka Prefecture, both in name and reality, through subscription concerts, special corporate-sponsored concerts, town hall concerts, outreach to hospitals, welfare facilities for the elderly, and children's schools, as well as music appreciation classes for schools. In 2018, Mr. Ken Takaseki joined the orchestra as Music Advisor, and from 2021, as Principal Conductor, he will be trusted by the orchestra members to improve the music culture of Shizuoka Prefecture.
