Mayumi Miyata, a leading figure in spreading the charm and possibilities of the sho instrument around the world, plays the sho solo. 15 years of restoration work from old scores has brought back to life the complete 800 year old "Shon" and the forgotten "Irishiki", a masterpiece of the sho, in this rare masterpiece disc. The delicate and beautiful melody and surprising dynamism. Here are the sounds of an age when the ancients loved and enjoyed music. ＜After graduating from Kunitachi College of Music, Miyata studied Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music). She has performed not only classical Gagaku but also premiered contemporary works by John Cage, Toru Takemitsu, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Toshio Hosokawa, and many others, and has performed with top orchestras in Japan and abroad under the direction of Seiji Ozu, C. Dutoit, A. Previn, Kazushi Ohno.In addition, she has appeared in Helmut Lachenmann's opera "The Girl with the Matchstick", performed at various music festivals including the Paris Fall Arts Festival, Vienna Moderne, and recitals in Tokyo, New York, Milan, Paris, Vienna, Rome, London, etc. In 2016, she received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for her "Reviving Old Scores and Stars of Our Time Series III," for which he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize in 2016. He has received the Minister of Education's Art Encouragement Prize, the Kenzo Nakajima Prize, the Keizo Saji Prize, etc. In the fall of 2018, he was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon and the 2021 Japan Foundation Prize.
