Since its establishment in 1973, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra has been closely connected to the Sendai-Tohoku region, and has always conveyed its "true locality" to the world. The band started a concert for the recovery two weeks after the earthquake. The activities to bring people together while delivering music comforted the hearts of many disaster victims. Now that reconstruction is progressing, the project "Going Home" will start from Sanriku in the summer of 2019 to realize our wish to "connect the hearts of as many people as possible with the power of music". Under the sincere baton of Permanent Conductor Taijiro Iimori, "Shinsekai" will be performed with full of empathy, employing a score written by Iimori himself. The Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra will move forward into the future with the project. (C)RS
