Jose James is one of the leading vocalists in the contemporary jazz scene. His new album, released on his own Rainbow Blonde label, is a sequel to "1978," released in 2024. Inspired by jazz fusion, kung-fu movies, and black-sploitation films. In addition to danceable originals such as the Tokyo-themed "Tokyo Daydream," the album will also feature Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," Herbie Hancock's "I Sort It Was You," The Rolling Stones' "Miss You," The Bee Gees' " Love You Inside Out," all of which were released between 1978 and 1979, are covered with modern interpretations. The album features Takuya Kuroda, Ben Wendel, Evan Dorsey, and Tari, in addition to the strong band members familiar from recording and touring, including BigYuki. (C)RS
