Much of the album Smitten captures the excitement and euphoria of the beginning of a queer relationship. The album, which took two years to produce while traveling back and forth between the U.S. and the U.K., is a look back at the band's roots in the north of England.Revamping the rebellious pop-punk sound heard on their last album, 2022's "Unwanted," the new album is full of crisp, ear-catching hooks, pounding snares, and intense alternative pop, with fresh echoes of their native Manchester The band is a fresh echo of their hometown of Manchester. Vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie says she has found herself finally being able to look back on her long-forgotten teenage years. She says, "When you fall in love, you fall deeply. It's interesting to me how you can feel attracted to someone, fall in love with them, but they can be a complete stranger.So I feel like 'Smitten' perfectly sums up how I felt about others at one point," Heather commented about the album.
