In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Saito Kinen Orchestra and the 50th anniversary of Hideo Saito's death, this CD couples Toru Takemitsu's masterpiece "November Steps" with "A String Around Autumn," which Takemitsu wrote for Nobuko Imai and premiered with the Orchestre de Paris in the fall of 1989 to commemorate the bicentennial of the French Revolution. Recorded during the overwhelmingly successful 1989 and 1990 European tours by Seiji Ozawa and the Saito Kinen Orchestra, this is a world-class recording by Toru Takemitsu. Universal Music
