One of the greatest improvisers of all time, Sonny Rollins left behind a masterpiece. He has an overwhelming ability to dominate his music with a single tenor saxophone. Here, too, he spins an unrestrained solo backed only by bass and drums. This is the historic first live recording at the prestigious jazz club "Village Vanguard" in New York, which has produced many famous recordings.
Kevin Gray remastered the recording from the newly discovered and unused original 7.5ips master tape. Includes a 36-page booklet with never-before-seen photos by Francis Wolfe, an essay, and a conversation between Rollins and Blue Note President Don Was.
