Description:

First time in 45 years since Pink Floyd, David Gilmour's historic show at the World Heritage Site Pompeii. A spectacular show of light and sound!" The Voice and Guitar Of Pink Floyd" is a documentary film of David Gilmour's historic live performance at the Pompeii Amphitheatre World Heritage Site, the first time in 45 years since Pink Floyd. The concert took place on July 7 and 8, 2016, 45 years after he first performed there for the legendary 1971 concert film "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii". The venue is the Pompeii Amphitheater, a historic structure built more than 2,000 years ago in 90 BC, buried in ashes by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, and later excavated and declared a World Heritage Site. It was the first rock concert ever held in this stone amphitheater since Roman times with an audience (45 years ago there was no audience due to a film shoot), and David Gilmour became the first performer to perform in front of an audience in this arena since gladiators fought there nearly 2000 years ago. The songs performed at the concert were by David Gilmour The songs performed at the concert spanned David Gilmour's entire career and included many of Pink Floyd's greatest hits (13 of the 21 Pink Floyd numbers are on this album). The band also performed "Blowin' Wind, Callin' Storm," the only song that was also performed in the 1971 film, as well as "Scat in the Void," from "Madness," a song Gilmour rarely performs in his solo performances. The concert was a "great spectacle of light and sound," a fusion of sound and images reminiscent of Pink Floyd, with floods of light emitted from a giant circular screen, various mysterious images that captured the imagination, laser beams of extreme colors, pyro, fireworks, and more. Only a little more than 2,000 spectators were able to witness this show each day. The full story of this legendary show, which became a super-premium ticket for Pink Floyd fans all over the world, is now finally revealed. The live sound was produced by David Gilmour and mixed by Andy Jackson and David Gilmour. The live footage was shot in 4K by director Gavin Elder, and the DVD will include an additional 7-minute documentary by Gavin Elder, "Pompeii Then and Now.Formed in 1968 by Emiko Shiratori, a member of Schoolmates, and Sumio Akutagawa, an aspiring singer, the group had many hits including "Aru Hi Suddenly," "Sora yo," and "Daremo inai Umi" and became popular from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. The first album (12 tracks in total) is being reissued on SHM-CD and analog LP!
