Description:
The relationship between Toru Takemitsu and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra (FUKUCHO) dates back to his concerts with Hiroyuki Iwaki in the late 1970s. The combination of Takemitsu, Iwaki, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra produced many historic recordings and concerts, and Takemitsu himself said, "The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra is the orchestra that is most in tune with my music. Perhaps one of his most famous achievements is the soundtrack for Akira Kurosawa's film "Ran. When Kurosawa initially wanted to record the film with the London Symphony Orchestra, Takemitsu insisted on recording it with the Fuda Symphony Orchestra. It is a famous episode that Kurosawa himself was impressed by the beauty of the sound of the Fuda Symphony Orchestra during the recording session and expressed his gratitude to the orchestra members. The recording of "1982 Takemitsu Toru World Premiere Collection," planned to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Takemitsu's death in 2021, is a recording of a concert held on June 27, 1982 at the Sapporo Civic Hall by Takemitsu, Iwaki, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, which had established such a wonderful combination. The recording was made by Takemitsu, Iwaki, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra on June 27, 1982, at the Sapporo Civic Hall. The concert was titled "World Premiere of Toru Takemitsu's World Premiere Works by the Tagakyo Symphony Orchestra," and was a world premiere of three pieces: "A Way a Lawn II (for string orchestra)," "To the Sea II (for alto flute, harp, and string orchestra)," and "A Time of Dreams (for orchestra). (for alto flute, harp, and string orchestra), and "Dream Time (for orchestra). Takemitsu himself also gave a lecture on the day, explaining his music and the pieces he performed. The recording was made by FM Hokkaido at the time and only aired on radio once in 1982 and once in 2017, making it an extremely rare record of Takemitsu's later career. This is the first time in history that the Fuda Symphony Orchestra has been released on Deutsche Grammophon. World's first commercial release. Green color label coated. [Performed by] Hiroshi Koizumi (Alto Flute) (2-4), Fumiko Shinozaki (Harp) (2-4), Sapporo Symphony Orchestra/Conductor: Hiroyuki Iwaki (CD1) June 27, 1982 Sapporo Civic Hall (Live) *Fumiko Shinozaki's name is officially called "Tatsusaki".
