Tower Records is proud to present the world's first SA-CD hybrid release of this masterpiece from the German ECM label, known for "the next most beautiful sound after silence." The first session as "Standers Trio" took place in New York in January 1983 and was released as three albums: "Standers Vol. 1" (released in 1983), "Standers Vol. 2" (released in 1985), and this album "Changes" (released in 1984). (released in 1984). The songs featured on "Changes" are different from the standard tunes in that they are completely improvised by the three musicians, with no rehearsals. The three pieces included in the album are "Flying Part 1," "Part 2," and "Prism. The first two pieces are varied performances lasting over 10 minutes, and are full of silence, exuberance, and improvisation over a swinging beat, while the third piece is full of the beauty of a gentle ticking time. A dramatic masterpiece with a sense of storytelling. The original recording engineer was Jan-Erik Kongshaug.
