Yosuke Yamashita, Itaru Oki, Yuji Ohno, and Kimiko Kasai. This was an astonishing jazz workshop with an unprecedented combination of faces. Japanese jazz was so sharp and original. The trio of Yosuke Yamashita, Itaru Oki, Yuji Ohno, and Kimiko Kasai is Trio by Trio Plus One, three trios and one vocalist, an actual recording of a jazz workshop held in 1970, originally released as a disc in the Victor "Jazz in Japan" series. The original was released as one of the Victor "Jazz in Japan" series. Just by looking at the lineup of musicians, one can feel an extraordinary atmosphere in this special work. Yamashita was leading the scene as the darling of the times, and Oki, who moved to Tokyo from Osaka in the mid-1960s, was attracting a lot of attention.Ohno, with his supple musicality, has performed everything from modern jazz to new jazz. And Kasai, who is just now blossoming. It goes without saying that each of their performances is powerful and attractive, but it should be noted that this album contains a performance by the Oki Trio, Ohno Trio, and Kasai, a seven-member ensemble that has never been recorded before or since.
