It is an unparalleled tournament with a long history that is recognized by more than 50 venues nationwide, over 510,000 general participants, and the major professional organizations in Japan: the Japan Professional Mahjong Federation, the Japan Professional Mahjong Association, the Supreme Championship Nippon Professional Mahjong Association, the Mahaso-Rengo, and the RMU. The winner of the tournament is awarded the title of "Saikyoku", a symbol of the best mahjong players in Japan.
