Description:
Eighteen years after the end of the Pacific War, Japan made a miraculous comeback from the ruins of a burnt-out city. And at a time when Japan was about to begin its rapid economic growth, Japan was about to host the Tokyo Olympics as a symbol of its resurgence. People believed that everything old had to be torn down and only the new was wonderful. Soot and smoke exhaled from chimneys. The dust from the cars clogging the streets. A city crowded with people. The noise of construction and building demolition. But still, the sea was blue, the greenery was bright, the sky was wide, and the world was sparkling with hope. At such a time, a small dispute was brewing at a high school in Yokohama over a historic building built in the Meiji era (1868-1912). The building was old, but full of history and memories. Should it be torn down or preserved? A high school boy and a girl meet in the midst of such an incident and begin to communicate with each other and help each other. With love and friendship between 16-year-old Umi and 17-year-old Shun as the weft, and the conflict over the building as the warp, this story refreshingly portrays a group of high school students living upright lives.
