Description:
The 19th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2025! Eric Roux wins an impressive 1st prize! The 19th International Chopin Piano Competition was held at the Warsaw Philharmonia Narodowa w Warszawie for three weeks from October 3, 2025. Eric Roux, who won the first prize at the competition in Warsaw, is the first in a series of performances of the first prize winner, Eric Roux. At the age of 17, Eric Roux competed in the previous two editions of the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2015 and won the 4th prize. When his name was called as one of the contestants for the 19th competition, announced on May 6, 2025, it is still fresh in our memories that various reactions of surprise, anticipation, and bewilderment were heard from all over the world. This was the first time in the competition's nearly 100-year history that a prizewinner from a previous competition had been invited to participate again, and Eric Roux's decision to enter a new era of the competition attracted a great deal of attention. Eric Roux, who appeared on the fourth day of the first round, captivated the audience with his stately and majestic performances of Waltz Op.42 and Ballade Op.52. His choice of Fazioli piano and the use of a piano chair with a backrest that looked like a pipe chair must have made a strong impression. Tremendous concentration and a sense of urgency. It was as if we were being taken step by step into another world as we wandered around in the darkness of the second round. The third qualifying round, where the order of performance was changed due to poor conditions, and where the students played "Sonata No. 3" and other pieces under extreme conditions. In the finals, Eric Roux's "Chopin Competition" came to a splendid conclusion when he played "Fantasy Polonaise" under the special environment of an orchestra waiting on stage, followed by a poetic, serene, and magnificent performance of "Piano Concerto No. 2," which was different from the previous competition, and reached its finale. Eric Roux, who continued to face unimaginably tremendous pressure and various emotions, never wavered and continued to play the Chopin he envisioned with sincerity. This is a disc that will allow you to experience Chopin's path to the first place, which deserves to be called an accomplishment, and his Chopin. Tokyo M-Plus
