Samuel Reinhardt, a rising Swiss composer guided by the principles of minimalism and chance! For 10 Musicians, by Samuel Reinhardt, a Swiss composer living in Copenhagen, New York, is a four-part ensemble work recorded at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen in 2025. This is the second collection of his works on elsewhere music, following Reinhardt's For Piano and Sho (ELSE032), released in 2024. In this album, two pianists are assigned a single chord in each movement, and are instructed to repeat it at their own pace throughout the piece. In between repetitions, the pianists are asked to improvise short phrases from the assigned group of notes, which are then played by the orchestral players. The orchestral players (2 clarinets, 2 bass clarinets, 2 violas, 1 cello, and 1 double bass) join in, playing single notes freely chosen from the same group of notes.As in Reinhardt's past works, the players are instructed to "play as quietly as possible while sounding the notes," and are free to adjust the time and amount of playing within the allotted time, as well as to interject longer rests.
