The 32nd release on the luxury Berlin label "bastille musique," which has been well received for its high standard of performance and unparalleled luxury binding, is a collection of string quartets by Beate Fuller, including world premiere recordings, performed by the Diotima String Quartet. Beate Fuller, one of Switzerland's leading contemporary composers and founder of the prestigious Austrian ensemble Klangforum Wien, studied under Roman Haubenstock-Ramati, and in 2024, at the age of 70, he remains composer-in-residence at the Lucerne Music Festival. He is one of the leading composers of contemporary music in Europe today. This 2-CD set includes all four string quartets, piano quintet, and clarinet quintet composed by Fuller over a period of 40 years, from 1984 to 2021.The Diotima String Quartet, one of the world's most popular and talented contemporary string quartets, Canadian pianist Claudia Chang, who also specializes in contemporary music, and clarinetist Torsten Johans, who has played principal clarinet with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne and the New York Philharmonic, make this a rare opportunity to hear Fuller's works performed by top artists in such a comprehensive concert.
