Toyohiko Sato, the world's leading Japanese luthier, has released a new recording on his own label "Nostalgia". Soprano Chiyomi Yamada, who has mastered the art of old-time singing in the Netherlands, the land of old-time music, sings a collection of works by "Akira Ifukube". After graduating from the Kunitachi College of Music, Chiyomi Yamada studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands. While a student, she began performing as the first soprano in the Renaissance Capella ensemble led by Dr. Rebecca Stewart, and gained extensive experience in polyphonic music and Gregorian chant. He is a member of the Japanese ancient music ensemble "Humorous Music". As a specialist in ancient music, she is highly regarded for her penetrating voice and delicate expressive technique.The works of Akira Ifukube were brought to this recording through an encounter with Reiko Yamada, a pianist living in the United States who is known as a specialist in the piano works of Akira Ifukube. Chiyomi Yamada will challenge the music of the ancient times, which is neither Japanese nor Western music, but music written down by Ifukube based on the prayers of the ancients. Tokyo M-Plus
