Reza Valli(1952-):Orchestral Music and Songs for Orchestra Reza Vali is an Iranian composer who has received numerous awards. She studied the fundamentals of music in Tehran, and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 1972. D. from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, and is currently based in the United States. He is known for writing exotic works that fuse his native melodic system "dastgar" (a group of melodies that serves as a basis for improvisation) with European music, including "Lavan," a brilliant orchestral work on this album, as well as a collection of folk songs using texts and his own words by the 3rd century Persian poet and mystic, Rumi. In this album, you will hear three unique works: "Lavan," a brilliant orchestral work; "Being of Love," a collection of folk songs using texts and his own words by the 3rd century Persian poet and mystic Rumi; and "Isfahan," the 16th in his "Calligraphy" series, which he has been working on since 2000. Gianna Batey, who sings the solo in "Being of Love," is a mezzo-soprano who specializes in contemporary works.
