In addition to his work as a conductor, Fabrice Boron has recently expanded his activities as composer of "Your Voice from the Lamb" (8.574015) and "Unborn Grandchildren" (8.574456) and as arranger of a chamber music version of Janacek's opera "The Clever Vixen". The work on this album, "The Wonderful World of Taro - A Musical Journey Through Time and Space," was commissioned by the Southwest German Radio (SWR) Symphony Orchestra in 2017. A sort of primer for children and adults unfamiliar with classical music, it follows a 324-year-old (!) child Taro, who lives on a planet called "Trujillo." The story is about Taro, a 324-year-old (!) child living on the planet "Trujillo," who uses his "earworm hole" to fly from planet to planet, discovering different worlds of sound. The work is filled with familiar melodies by Vivaldi, Ravel, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, and others, as well as rock and jazz, which are reconstructed by Boron to create new worlds. The sound of the marimba, which is heard in the middle of the piece, represents Taro, and its sound blends with the background sounds to transport the listener into the world of classical music.The CD contains a version without narration, but a digital-only version with German narration (9.70356) is also available.
