Description:
On the 325th anniversary of his birth, Leclerc, one of the greatest violin music composers of the first half of the 18th century in France, has begun recording all 12 pieces of his masterpiece, the third volume of his Violin Sonatas. Following the first volume (8.574341), this album contains Nos. 5 through 8. At the time when Leclerc was active in the 18th century, Italian violin music by Corelli, Vivaldi, and others was very popular, and he developed his style by combining this brilliant style with traditional French dance forms. The four pieces on this album are beautiful in their melodies, and at times, as in "Tombow," No. 6, which was written as a memorial piece, they are full of emotion, even to the point of being wistful. The first movement of the Sonata in D major is reminiscent of an orchestral tutti, and the entire work is written in such a way that the solo violin is highlighted, showing Leclerc's insatiable creative spirit.
