Description:

Argentina's world-class composer has written a "series of songs" for soprano Ayako Tanaka! Esteban Bensekri (1970-) is a composer born in Argentina and based in France. Like Hinastera, Villa-Lobos, and Chávez, he has been attracting attention for his unique and colorful works, which continue the tradition of musical exchange between European and Latin American countries since the beginning of the 20th century. This album features three works, including the "Chain Songs," composed by Bensekri for Japan's renowned coloratura soprano, Ayako Tanaka. Bensekri, who was immediately captivated by Tanaka's voice when he first met her, has taken full advantage of her delicate voice and superb technique to write stunning songs that fuse Japanese and Argentine cultures with motifs of love, the origin of existence, and the sacred river. Tanaka's breathtaking and expressive singing has an overwhelming presence. The violin concerto weaves together ethnic South American motifs and rhythms, while the clarinet concerto transports the listener to the South American continent before it was conquered by Spain. The violin soloist is the principal concertmaster of Teatro Colon, and the clarinet soloist is the principal clarinetist of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. This is the fifth series of songs inspired by my voice that composer Bensekri has composed and dedicated to me, following those dedicated to cellist Gautier Capuçon, violinist Nemanja Radulović, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and pianist Lan Lan. This is the fifth work he has dedicated. When I first heard his work, I had the feeling of being both unapproachable and nostalgic. Perhaps our DNA, which has long been blessed by and lived with nature, is subconsciously nostalgic for the primitive forests and indigenous rhythms that are the theme of all his works. We are very honored to be a part of the composer's first album. Please listen to it! May 2020 Ayako Tanaka [Esteban Benzecry] Esteban Benzecry is one of the most remarkable Argentine composers. He studied composition in his hometown and moved to Paris in 1997.In 1999, he won the "unanimous first prize" in composition at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris and began his career as a composer. He has composed three symphonies and numerous other works, including the trilogy "Rituales Amerindios," commissioned by the Göteborg Symphony Orchestra in 2010, which depicts Aztec, Mayan, and Inca civilizations, and which brought him international attention and catapulted him into the ranks of popular composers. His works have been performed by Gustavo Dudamel and Diego Mateus with numerous orchestras to great acclaim. Naxos Japan
