Description:
The fifth volume of NAXOS' popular "History of Russian Piano Trios" series concludes with the arrival of the fifth volume of the series. The album includes works by three men active in the 20th century whose names have largely disappeared from music history. Vladimir Dick, who studied composition with Vidor at the Paris Conservatory, became a French citizen in 1910, but tragically died in 1943 when he and his family were captured by the Nazis and sent to Auschwitz. This piano trio was composed in 1910. It is a powerful work that embodies the soul of Russia in the skillful sound production he trained in the field of film music. Sternberg, who moved to the U.S. and became an outstanding pianist, has created a trio that is unexpectedly bright and easygoing. The second movement, written in the form of a variation, leaves a strong impression of pathos. Yuferov was born into a wealthy family in Odessa, and received composition lessons from Glazunov. This piano trio is a beautiful and full music with nostalgic ideas and powerful melodies derived from Russian folk songs. Naxos Japan
