The Brahms Trio continues its tradition of Russian piano trios with the fourth collection of trios by Arensky and Taneyev, two composers active at the end of the 19th century between Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, whose trios are also full of rich romanticism and beautiful melodies. The trios are also richly flavored, with a substantial style filled with rich romanticism and beautiful melodies. Arensky's Trio is in the Russian tradition of "music in memory of a departed artist," and is dedicated to the famous cellist Carl Davidov, who passed away in 1889. Taneyev's Trio, on the other hand, is not a work for anyone in particular, but it is a demonstration of his advanced compositional techniques in the vein of Tchaikovsky. Both are powerful works that contributed to the development of the "piano trio" genre in 19th century Russian music and laid the foundation for its further evolution. Naxos Japan
