Description:
Havana native Leo Brouwer is known as a composer of some of the most challenging and innovative guitar works. He is also a conductor and playwright whose versatility is admired by many. This album contains his three guitar sonatas and the "Ritual and Festive Dances," the starting point of his work, and offers a variety of works that sound avant-garde while incorporating Cuban folk songs. Rituals and Festive Dances" has its roots in "Danza Caracteristica," which he composed at the age of 18, and which continues his experimental approach of combining Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Bossa Nova. The other three pieces are "Black Decameron" and "Sonata of the Thinker," the best known of Brouwer's works, and "Ars Combinatria," which was premiered in 2014, allowing you to enjoy Brouwer's unique pursuit of guitar technique to the utmost limit.
