Wolf-Ferrari is known for his operas that reflect 18th century Venetian culture in the 20th century, such as "The Jewel of the Madonna" and "The Mischievous Women. The sweet and beautiful melody of the interlude from "The Jewel of Madonna," also known as Paul Moriah's arrangement, has captured the hearts of many people. The orchestral works on this album are from the last years of Wolf-Ferrari's life, and are fascinating in a different way of expression from his early operas. From the melancholy of the "Venice Suite" at the beginning of the album to the playful "Divertimento" and the contemplative yet passionate "Trilogy," the album features the works of Wolf-Ferrari's old friends, the Venetian paintings, the "Piano Concerto" and the "Piano Concerto. In "Arabesque," written with his old friend, the Venetian painter Ettore Tito (1859-1941) in mind, a simple melody called "Tito's Theme" unfolds as a brilliant variation culminating in a powerful fugue. Friedrich Haider, a renowned opera conductor, has devoted much of his time since 2003 to the study of Wolf-Ferrari. Naxos Japan
