The first collection (8.572979), "Piano Works for Four Hands," sheds light on the unknown works of Debussy (1862-1918) as a young man, while the second collection is a colorful collection of works centered on his masterpiece "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Pastor," which marks the beginning of Impressionism. Based on the bewitching poem by Mallarmé, a poet of the Symbolist school whom Debussy admired, "Prelude to the Pastor's Afternoon" is a beautiful work with a delicate orchestral sound that is out of tune. Ravel's piano arrangement retains the beautiful sound of the piece while revealing the "sound mechanism" unique to the piano. Debussy's arrangement of "The Sea" also reveals the sunlight reflected on the surface of the sea and every particle of water from the breaking waves. The three orchestral versions of "Images" were arranged for piano by Debussy's close friend Capre. Capre, who usually orchestrates piano pieces, has arranged them in a "reverse pattern," but this arrangement is so elaborate that only a close friend who has complete control of the work could have done it, and it has a completely different flavor from the original that is appealing.
