Description:
This album features the bandoneon, a particularly popular instrument in Argentina and Uruguay. It is often confused with the accordion because of its similarity in shape, but the keys are all buttons, which are only attached on both sides across the bellows. It is very difficult to play. Originally invented by the German Heinrich Band in 1847 and used as a substitute for the pipe organ in open-air church ceremonies, it is believed that in the 20th century a large quantity of bandoneons were exported from Germany to Argentina, where they were used in tangos. The Italian composer Di Marino loved this instrument, and in this concerto, he succeeds in evoking a solemnly sensual sound from it, while demanding breathtaking virtuosity. Piazzolla needs no further explanation.His "Obvillion" is one of his most beloved pieces, and from the very beginning, a world so troubled unfolds before your eyes that you can't help but sigh. Tango Sensation" was written during the period of Piazzolla's recovery from illness, and is a profound piece of music that he wrote as a "farewell to life through music.
