Description:

Since there were three musicians of the same period with the name "Rouillet," this Jean-Baptiste Rouillet (1688-1720) is called "Rouillet of Ghent or Rouillet of Gan," after his birthplace, to distinguish him from his cousin of the same name. Little is known of his life except that he spent most of his life in France, where he is known to have served the archbishop of Lyon. However, his numerous works for flute and recorder remain highly sought after. Influenced by Corelli's Violin Sonatas and infused with his virtuosity, these pieces are a sophisticated fusion of the Italian and French styles popular at the time.
