Description:
Idil Billet, a famous Turkish pianist born in 1941, was exposed to Bach's music from an early age, and was particularly impressed by the F minor piece from the second volume of the Mean Clavier cycle played by Etvin Fischer, which she heard on a 78 rpm record when she was 4 years old. Since then, she has performed many of Bach's concertos and chamber works for keyboard, especially the D minor concerto, which has become a staple in her concerts. She sees Bach's works as "timeless," and in her memoirs and interviews she says, "Bach is at the heart of my music and my faith in him will never change. "In 2002, at the suggestion of Turkish conductor Errol Erdinci, Idil Billet, Ayşegül Sarça, Hande Dalkirici to perform Bach's concertos for keyboard. Among others, Hande had been a score-turner at Idil's concerts and had studied piano with Eichegyül, and felt very honored to perform with him. During rehearsals, Hande described the special experiences he had, including playing the piece "non legato," as suggested by Idil. Aishegül Sarça is a leading Turkish pianist who studied at the Istanbul Conservatory and the Paris Conservatory and is known for his recordings of works by composer Jemal Reşit Rey. Hande Dalkirici received his doctorate from the Bilkent University of Music and currently teaches at Hajetepe University, where he actively performs works by Turkish composers. Erol Erdinci studied music in Turkey and France and served as principal conductor of the Istanbul National Symphony Orchestra from 1983 to 2000, as well as dean of the music faculty at Bilkent University. Gülül Aycal studied conducting at the Guildhall School of Music in London and the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Italy. After returning to Turkey, he conducted numerous orchestras and received the title of "National Artist" of Turkey in 1981. Naxos Japan
