Description:
Rossini's "Adina," a one-act falsa set in Baghdad, is also the only opera the composer never saw performed in his lifetime. Most of the music is adapted from other works, and the important trio of heroine and lover is missing, which creates a gap in the plot leading up to the reconciliation and preparations for the escape. Although the script originally called for a "Terzetto Trio," it was never composed. In this performance, to make up for the "missing triplet," a triplet from the opera "The Slave of Baghdad," adapted from Romani's libretto and composed by Pacini, was inserted for the first time in history, as Ricordi had suggested in 1861. Although it partially contradicts Rossini's intention, it adds color to the music as an essential element in the progression of the story. Adina, played by Sarah Blank, has the strength to lead the entire production, and Luciano Accocella conducts the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, the Festival's resident ensemble, with great command. , Synopsis, Mustafa, the Caliph of Baghdad, falls in love with Adina, a slave girl.However, Adina is reunited with her lover Selimo, whom she once pledged her love to.
