Following "Gold of the Rhine" in 2015, the Hong Kong Philharmonic and Jaap van Zweden present the second "Wagner: Ring of the Nibelung" Zycles with a magnificent cast for the first night of "Die Walküre" in its entirety. As in the previous production, the entire work was performed in concert format, and was a masterful collaboration between the Hong Kong Philharmonic, which boasts a tight ensemble, and the white-hot singing of some of the finest singers of our time. Although there are only a few characters in the opera, the tension-filled first act, with its intense exchange between the young lovers, the second act, which is tightened by the appearance of Wotan played by Guerne, the glamorous third act, which opens with the famous "Ride of the Valkyries," and the closing act, with the heartbreaking dialogue between Brunnhilde, played by veteran singer Petra Lang, and Wotan, played by the young singer, Brunhilde, was a masterpiece. Wotan's heartbreaking dialogue with Brünnhilde, played by veteran singer Petra Lang, at the end of the act. In every scene, you can enjoy the stable singing and the profound orchestral sound.
