Description:
Torquemada's watch store is thriving in the town of Toledo in the 18th century. Ramiro, a mule player, comes to have his watch repaired. Then Torquemada's wife Concepcion appears. She is actually trying to get rid of her husband as soon as possible so that she can invite her lover over and have some fun while he is away. Her husband is a nuisance, and her guest Ramiro is a nuisance. She asks Ramiro to "take the watch there and go upstairs. Gonzalve, the mistress, appears in the empty store. Concepcion is annoyed by the slight discrepancy in their feelings, and then Ramiro returns. Oh, and another mistress, Inigo, arrives as well. But Concepcion is completely taken with Ramiro...what will happen now? This "Spanish Clock" is often discussed together with "The Child and the Magic," another short opera.However, please note that this work is a little more "adult oriented.
