Description:
There are many composers whose names are well known but whose works are rarely heard, and Meyerbeer (1791–1864) is one of them. This opera, *The Crusade in Egypt*, served as the springboard for his success in France. Although it was a huge hit when it premiered at the Teatro La Fenice in 1824, it was neglected for approximately 170 years after its revival in 1835, eventually becoming a completely forgotten work. This production reportedly reached its peak excitement thanks to a stellar cast featuring the American male soprano Maniaci, the rapidly rising star soprano Choofi, and the renowned bass Vinko. Although it’s a lengthy performance lasting nearly four hours, thanks to Vium’s tense and gripping conducting, the audience couldn’t take their eyes off the stage for even a moment. Naxos Japan
