Grammy Award-winning contemporary American composer, Doaty (1954-). This album is a collection of works inspired by the American culture that symbolizes the 20th century. The quartet entitled "Cello Concerto," named after the great writer Hemingway, is in the form of a "cello concerto" and symbolically depicts the story of the cello in dialogue with the orchestra. Other works include "American Gothic," commissioned by his hometown Iowa Orchestra and reflecting memories of his childhood, and "Someday at the Castle" (revised 2015, world premiere recording), a film-like piece depicting scenes from his beloved California.
