This is a collection of the most popular series of Sousa marches. Once again, 14 songs full of power await you. Needless to say, all of them are charming. Some are patriotic, some are a bit funny, and there is plenty of fun to be had no matter where you listen. For example, track 10, "Liberty Loan," the name of a U.S. bond sold during World War I, uses the sound of a bell to represent "freedom" in the song, which was so popular that 400,000 copies of the initial Victor release were sold. The longest song on the album, "Parlor and Street" Fantasy, is a collage of famous operas and operettas, with a series of melodies that you may have heard before. And track 14, as the title suggests, uses famous folk songs as motifs. The Royal Swedish Navy Band, led by Bryon, plays brilliantly as usual. Naxos Japan
