Description:
The piano music of Szymanowski, the central axis of Polish late Romanticism, represents a wide range of footprints from Chopin's influence to mysticism. The "Nine Preludes," Op. 1, sounds so much like Chopin's work that it will make this composer's fan base grow. The language of piano works by Szymanowski is a thousand different and powerful in its ability to appeal to the listener's mind, and it is filled with a surprisingly wide variety of musical styles and imaginative textures. Elements of Debussy's impressionism, Scriabin's mysticism, and Stravinsky's unrestrained tonality, all of which Shimanowski highly valued, can be heard. The CD contains works from the entire period of Szymanowski's creative life. The works range from the beautiful and powerful "Nine Preludes" (considered the first extant work) to the technically demanding and dazzling "Sonata No. 3".This is the fourth and concluding volume of the Naxos Simanowski Complete Piano Works. The other three volumes are available as Naxos 8.553016, 8.553330, and 8.553867.
