Description:
A "pianist of steel," the Russian pianist Girelis (1916-1985) was especially adept at interpreting and playing Beethoven's works, so much so that he was nicknamed "Mr. Beethoven. However, he was also known for his love of the works of the Baroque master Domenico Scarlatti, and these works were on the program at his first public concert in 1929. Of course, his European concert tours, which he began in 1947, also included works by Scarlatti, and many of you may be familiar with his famous performance at a concert he gave in England. In addition to perfect technique, Scarlatti's emotional expression, which never falls into excess, is, make no mistake, appropriate for a Baroque work. On the other hand, Liszt and Chopin are both fantastic and unique. The originality of "La Campanella" is also noteworthy. Naxos Japan
